Why Trust zonline?

Africa’s marketplace, built around the buyer.

Let’s be honest – shopping online requires a certain level of courage. You’ve heard the stories. We have too. That’s exactly why we built zonline.africa differently: a marketplace where sellers are held accountable, payments are secured, and you – the buyer – are always the priority.

🏪

Vetted Sellers – Not Just Anyone

Every seller on zonline goes through a registration and compliance review before they can list products. We check business names, contact details, and physical addresses, so you’re not buying from a ghost. Our Verified Seller badge (✓) takes this even further.

🔒

Secure Checkout, Every Time

Our checkout is protected by SSL/TLS encryption, the same technology used by banks worldwide. The padlock in your browser URL bar is your signal that your card details and personal information are fully encrypted from end to end.

🕵️

Your Privacy is Sacred Here

We don’t sell your data. We don’t rent it. We don’t sneak it out the back door for marketers. Your personal information is only used for processing your order and making your shopping experience better.

💬

Transparent Seller Reviews

Real shoppers. Real ratings. Our review system lets verified buyers leave honest feedback on sellers and products. Before you buy, you can see what other shoppers have experienced – the good, the great, and the rare occasional “hmm, interesting.”

🤝

Dispute Mediation Support

Got a problem with your order? We provide a structured dispute resolution process, giving both buyer and seller a fair chance to resolve things without it turning into a full-blown neighbourhood drama. We step in when needed.

📱

Mobile Money Safe

M-Pesa, MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, EcoCash and mobile money are how many Africans move money. Our payment integrations are PCI-compliant and built for African realities – not just foreign credit cards.

The Verified Checkmark

That little does a lot of work.

Our Verified Seller badge is your visual shortcut to shopping with confidence. Here’s how to spot the difference – and why it matters.

What does the Verified actually mean?

When you see the verification checkmark next to a seller’s name on zonline.africa, it means we’ve done the legwork so you don’t have to.

  • Business identity has been confirmed – real name, real business
  • Physical address has been verified and is on file with zonline
  • Contact details (phone & email) are confirmed and responsive
  • Seller has agreed to and complied with zonline’s Seller Policies
  • Accurate product/service category information has been provided
  • Seller has passed zonline’s compliance onboarding review

Unverified sellers can still sell on zonline, but we strongly recommend prioritising verified sellers – especially for higher-value purchases. Think of it the way you’d feel more comfortable buying from a shop with a proper sign, address, and phone number on the door.

Buyer Protection Scope

What we help with – and what’s on you (let’s be honest).

We believe in being straight with you. Here’s exactly what our Buyer Protection covers and where our role ends. No hidden fine print – just clarity.

We help with this

  • Mediating disputes between buyers and verified sellers where there is clear evidence of a breach of the seller’s stated terms
  • Facilitating communication between you and a seller who is not responding within a reasonable timeframe
  • Escalating issues where a seller has violated zonline.africa’s Seller Policies or community standards
  • Reviewing reports of suspected fraudulent listings or misrepresented products and taking appropriate action
  • Providing a secure, encrypted payment environment – your credentials are never stored unsecured on our servers
  • Protecting your personal data from being shared with or sold to third parties
  • Suspending or removing sellers who accumulate legitimate negative reviews or verified complaints
⚠️

Important limitations

  • !zonline.africa is a marketplace platform – individual sellers set their own refund and return policies. zonline does not issue refunds on behalf of sellers.
  • !Disputes must be raised within a reasonable timeframe. Delayed claims significantly reduce our ability to assist.
  • !We cannot intervene in transactions conducted outside of zonline.africa – e.g. if you agreed to pay a seller via a separate bank transfer after messaging on WhatsApp.
  • !Buyer Protection applies to purchases made through the zonline.africa platform checkout only – not informal arrangements with sellers.
  • !While we vet sellers, we cannot guarantee the physical quality of every individual product. Ratings, reviews, and the verified checkmark are your best tools before buying.
  • !Our role in disputes is mediation, not enforcement. We strongly encourage using the checkout system and reading seller reviews before purchasing.

💡 Pro tip: The single most powerful thing you can do as a buyer is always transact through the zonline.africa checkout. The moment you move a transaction off-platform – to WhatsApp, cash, or a private bank transfer – you step outside the protection our platform provides. Stay on the platform. Your future self will thank you.

Your payment is protected from the moment you click “Buy.”

All payments on zonline.africa are processed through encrypted, PCI-compliant payment gateways. Your card details, mobile money credentials, and personal information are scrambled and secured – unreadable to anyone trying to intercept your transaction.

The padlock icon (🔒) in your browser’s address bar when you’re at zonline.africa is your guarantee that you’re on a legitimate, SSL-secured website. If you ever don’t see it, stop and contact us.

Your Privacy

We don’t sell your data.
Full stop. End of story.

In a world where your personal information sometimes feels like everyone’s business – ours isn’t. Here’s our straightforward commitment to your privacy.

🙅

We Never Sell Your Data

Your name, phone number, email, and purchase history are yours. They are never sold to or shared with advertisers or third-party marketers. Never.

🎯

Data Used Only For Your Order

We collect only what we need to process your order, deliver your purchase, and resolve any issues. No unnecessary information is requested.

🔑

Secure Account Access

Your account is protected by a password only you know. We will never ask for your password – if someone claiming to be zonline does, it’s a scam.

📋

Full Transparency

Our full Privacy Policy explains in plain language exactly how your data is handled. No confusing legal jargon designed to hide what’s really going on.

⚠️ Watch out for phishing

Scammers sometimes create fake sites or emails that look like legitimate marketplaces. Always check that you are on zonline.africa (look for the padlock and the exact domain). We will never contact you asking for your banking PIN, EcoCash PIN, or password.

✅ Shopping safely on public WiFi

When shopping at a mall, café, or anywhere using shared WiFi, use your mobile data instead for payments. Public networks are less secure. Our checkout is encrypted regardless, but your personal device on mobile data is an extra layer of safety you control.

Dispute Resolution

Got a problem?
Here’s how we fix it.

We believe most issues between buyers and sellers can be resolved quickly and fairly. Our process is simple, clear, and designed to reach a resolution without unnecessary stress.

1

Contact the Seller Directly

Use the seller’s store contact details on their zonline profile. Most issues — wrong item, delivery delay, a question about a product — are resolved at this stage. Give the seller a fair chance to respond.

⏱ Allow 48–72 hours for a response
2

Raise a Support Request with zonline

If the seller hasn’t responded or the issue remains unresolved, contact the zonline.africa support team. Provide your order details, what was agreed, and the nature of the issue.

📧 Contact via the zonline Support page
3

Mediation Review

Our team reviews both sides of the dispute — evidence submitted by you and the seller. We apply our Seller Policies to assess who is in the right and what a fair resolution looks like.

⚖️ Impartial review of both parties
4

Resolution & Seller Accountability

A resolution is communicated to both parties. Sellers found to have violated policies face consequences ranging from a formal warning to removal from the marketplace. Your feedback matters.

Buyer Smart Tips

Shop smarter.
(And safer. Always safer.)

A few simple habits make a massive difference to your online shopping experience in Zimbabwe and across Africa.

01

Look for the ✓ Verified Badge

Before any significant purchase, check that the seller has the verification checkmark on their profile. Sellers like Supa Car Sounds are great examples of verified, accountable businesses.

Translation: the checkmark is doing the due diligence your auntie wishes you’d do before sending money.
02

Read Seller Reviews

A seller’s star rating and buyer reviews are the closest you’ll get to asking a friend “did you buy from these people?” Spend 30 seconds reading reviews before you add to cart.

91% of shoppers read at least one review before buying. Be among the smarter 91%.
03

Keep All Transactions On-Platform

If a seller asks you to pay via a personal bank account or EcoCash number outside of zonline, politely decline. On-platform checkout is how your Buyer Protection stays active.

Off-platform means out of protection. If something goes wrong, there is very little we can do.
04

Be Specific in Your Orders

When a product has variants (colour, size, specification) confirm these with the seller before finalising your order. A clear order means fewer surprises when the package arrives.

Ordering “the blue one” without specifying the shade is how you end up with royal blue when you wanted sky blue. Ask first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions buyers ask us a lot
(and we answer honestly).

Because an FAQ that actually answers questions is worth having.

Is it safe to shop on zonline.africa?

Yes – and we take that seriously. zonline.africa uses SSL/TLS encryption across the entire site, PCI-compliant payment gateways for all transactions, a verified seller programme to confirm seller identities, and buyer review systems so you can see other shoppers’ experiences. That said, the safest shopping is smart shopping: always buy from verified sellers, keep transactions on-platform, and read seller reviews before purchasing.

What does the Verified Seller checkmark (✓) mean exactly?

The verification badge means zonline.africa has confirmed the seller’s business identity, physical address, and contact details on file. Sellers must also agree to and comply with our Seller Policies to achieve and maintain verified status. Verified sellers like Supa Car Sounds (supasounds.co.zw) – a Harare-based car audio and accessories specialist operating since 1999 – are real, accountable businesses with a track record you can check.

I didn’t receive my order. What should I do?

First, contact the seller directly using their store contact details on their zonline profile – give them 48 to 72 hours to respond. If they don’t respond or the issue remains unresolved, contact the zonline.africa support team with your order details. We’ll mediate the dispute. The key thing: keep all communication on-record and keep your receipts and order confirmations. This makes the resolution process significantly faster.

Does zonline.africa offer refunds if something goes wrong?

zonline.africa is a marketplace – refunds are governed by each individual seller’s refund policy, which you can view on their store page before purchasing. We strongly recommend reading a seller’s refund policy before you buy, especially for high-value items. If a seller is refusing a refund they are contractually obligated to provide under their stated policy, raise a dispute with us and we’ll step in. zonline.africa itself does not issue refunds on behalf of sellers, but we do hold sellers accountable to their own stated policies.

Does zonline.africa sell or share my personal information?

No. Full stop. zonline.africa does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Your information – name, email, phone number, address, purchase history – is used solely to process your orders, improve your shopping experience, and communicate with you about your account.

Is it safe to pay with EcoCash or mobile money on zonline?

Yes. Mobile money payments on zonline.africa are processed through secure, integrated payment channels – not directly shared with sellers. Never share your EcoCash PIN with anyone, including anyone claiming to be from zonline or a seller. A legitimate transaction will never require you to reveal your PIN. If a seller asks for your PIN or asks you to send money to a personal EcoCash number outside the platform checkout, refuse and report it to us immediately.

How do I know a listing is genuine and not misleading?

Look for: the Verified Seller checkmark, previous buyer reviews on the product and seller profile, accurate product descriptions with clear images, a stated return/refund policy, and confirmed contact details. If a deal looks too good to be true, it usually is. Unusually low prices with no reviews and an unverified seller should be approached with caution. You can also report suspicious listings to our team and we will investigate promptly.

A seller asked me to pay outside of zonline. Is that okay?

This is a red flag. We strongly advise against transacting outside the zonline.africa platform for any purchase you initiate on zonline. Off-platform payments remove you from the protection of our checkout system and our dispute resolution process entirely. If a seller is pressuring you to pay via a personal bank account or external payment method, report the seller to our support team. Legitimate sellers on zonline have no need to ask buyers to go off-platform.
