What is zonline.africa?

zonline is an online platform empowering African businesses to create their own eCommerce stores and connect with local and international customers. Every business needs an online presence – because everyone’zonline.

Who can sell on zonline.africa?

Any individual or business based in Africa offering goods or services can become a seller, provided they meet the marketplace policies and standards.

How do I become a seller?

Simply sign up for an account, select a subscription package, and set up your store using the provided tools and resources. It’s straightforward and our team is available to help you through every step.

I don’t have a website. Can I still sell on zonline.africa?

Absolutely! You just need an approved seller account and you can sell on zonline.africa. If you have your own domain you can also point it to your online store on zonline to direct clients to your powerful zonline storefront.

Your online store can work as your primary website or a secondary one – either way, it’s fully functional from day one.

How does selling on zonline.africa work?

Once your seller account is approved, you add your products and services via the vendor dashboard and they are automatically listed on the zonline marketplace.

Customers find your products by searching on the zonline.africa marketplace or on Google. They order through zonline, you deliver the product, confirm delivery – then funds are deposited into your bank account less our service fees. You can also opt for zonline to handle fulfilment on your behalf.

What products and/or services can I sell on zonline.africa?

You can sell almost any legal products and/or services across these categories: African Art, Baby, Books, Business Operations, Clothing/Shoes & Accessories, Consumer Electronics, Computer/Tablets & Networking, Health & Beauty, Home & Garden, Motors, Musical Instruments, Toys & Hobbies, and Gift Vouchers.

Stolen property and illegal products/services are strictly prohibited. Some categories may require special permission before you can start selling.

Managing Your Account

How to keep your store, products, orders, and payments running smoothly.

Is my password safe?

You are responsible for keeping your password safe. Use a secure, hard-to-guess password and never share it. zonline continuously safeguards your personal details on our infrastructure – but your password is your first line of defence.

Can I edit my listed products or services?

Absolutely! You can edit your listed products and/or services at any time via the Seller Dashboard.

How do I manage my orders on zonline?

All orders are managed via your Seller Dashboard:

  • Self-shipping: Update each order to indicate that shipment has been completed
  • Easy Shipping: Pack and label your orders, then schedule a pick-up from your premises by our team
  • Fulfilment by zonline (FBZ): zonline fulfils and ships your order on your behalf
Can I cancel my account?

You can cancel your account at any point, but you remain liable for any transactions not yet processed or still covered by your warranty and/or the terms of the agreement.

How and when do I get paid?

zonline disburses payments every Friday. Payments are eligible for disbursement 7 days after confirmation that the order has been shipped.

Payments are made via electronic transfer into your specified bank account. Important requirements:

  • Your seller account must have a complete business address on file
  • Your bank account must be located in an African country supported by zonline.africa
  • Your bank account information must be complete and up to date
  • Disbursements are made in the local currency of the country where your bank account is located

zonline cannot transfer payments to credit cards or some online payment services.

  3. Enterprise Package – for ambitious businesses scaling aggressively. Advanced features, priority support, and customised eCommerce solutions.
How do you assist new online store owners?

We provide a hands-on approach – guiding you through eCommerce basics, helping optimise your sales, and offering training materials and personalised support to help you succeed from day one.

What technical support is available?

What support is available to resolve disputes with customers?

zonline offers mediation tools to help resolve disputes amicably and ensure both seller and customer satisfaction. Our team steps in when needed to facilitate a fair resolution.

Can customers leave feedback on my store?

Yes. Customer feedback is a critical metric on zonline – it’s used by customers to gauge your trustworthiness and by zonline to measure your performance. Customers generally purchase from businesses with strong, positive reviews.

Can I get help with product images and graphic design?

Absolutely! zonline requires professional images for all products and services listed. If you don’t have an in-house designer or content creator, you can work with one of our recommended partner experts who specialise in creating product and service catalogues for the internet.

Can I get a custom sub-domain?

Yes. You can get a sub-domain that reflects your brand – for example: www.yourbrand.zonline.africa. To apply, send a note via the messaging section in your seller dashboard.

Can I get custom emails using my sub-domain?

Not directly via the sub-domain – however, you can purchase a domain from one of our partners and use it for your emails, then point that domain to your zonline store profile. Note: some zonline packages include FREE basic email hosting.

How can I promote my products?

Use zonline.africa’s built-in marketing tools – including social media integrations and promotional banners – to attract customers. You can also share your products directly to WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and more from within your dashboard.

Do you provide marketing support?

Yes. We offer tailored advertising solutions and guidance on creating effective marketing campaigns to grow your business. zonline Experts are also available to help you reach your specific marketing goals.

Can I get insights into my store’s performance?

Absolutely! Analytics tools are available via your seller dashboard to monitor sales, customer behaviour, and overall performance – giving you the data to make informed business decisions.

How stock management, shipping, and delivery work on the platform.

What tools are provided for inventory management and shipping?

Integrated inventory systems track your stock levels in real-time, while shipping tools streamline order fulfilment – all accessible directly from your seller dashboard.

How does the platform handle shipping to customers?

zonline integrates with reliable couriers to ensure smooth, trackable deliveries from your store to customers. Please note: Fulfilment by zonline (FBZ) is not yet fully available – sellers are currently responsible for shipping products to buyers.

Are there additional costs for shipping and delivery?

Additional shipping charges may apply based on package weight, destination, and the courier selected. These are clearly outlined during the order process.

Do you have partnerships with suppliers or logistics providers?

Not yet – but we will soon be collaborating with trusted suppliers and logistics companies to simplify sourcing and delivery operations for sellers. Watch this space.

How is payment processing handled for my customers?

Secure payment gateways are integrated into your store to ensure smooth transactions. These support credit cards, mobile money, and PayPal – giving your customers multiple payment options.

Are there additional costs to running my store?

Extra costs may include premium features, paid marketing campaigns, or advanced customisations. These are optional and always clearly communicated before purchase.

What are the criteria for becoming a verified seller?

To become a verified seller, ensure compliance with zonline.africa’s policies, provide accurate business information, and maintain good customer reviews. Verification is your mark of credibility on the marketplace.

What are the marketplace refund and return policies?

zonline has a standard policy for returns and refunds, but sellers can define specific terms for their own store. Any seller-defined terms must align with platform-wide regulations.

What products or services are prohibited?

Items that violate local or international laws, counterfeit goods, hazardous products, and stolen property are all strictly prohibited. For a detailed list, review the platform’s policies or contact our support team.

How do I handle customer complaints or negative reviews?

Address complaints professionally through the seller dashboard. zonline.africa provides mediation tools to help resolve disputes and rebuild trust with your customers. Responding promptly and professionally to negative feedback is one of the best things you can do for your store’s reputation.

How does the rewards programme work?

Subject to standard terms and conditions, when you complete a task or meet and exceed a performance standard, you become eligible to win rewards credited to your seller rewards account. Rewards can be redeemed in full or in part and are not transferable.

Do my rewards expire?

Standard rewards do not expire. However, some special rewards must be used within a specified time period – these will be clearly communicated when awarded.

What does it cost to join the rewards programme?

Nothing. There are no charges to join – just your desire to build an exceptional digital footprint and grow your business online through zonline.africa.

What do I do if I can’t log in to my seller account?

Use the “Forgot Password” option on the login page to reset your credentials. If you continue to have trouble, contact our support team via WhatsApp at +263 71 888 2000 or email info@zonline.africa.

Why are my products not appearing in my store?

Ensure that all products are approved, properly categorised, and meet zonline.africa’s listing requirements. Common reasons include missing images, incomplete product descriptions, or pending approval. Check your seller dashboard for any flagged items.

Can I get training on how to optimise my store?

Yes. We provide free tutorials, webinars, and – for some packages or paid add-ons – one-on-one coaching to help you optimise your store and increase sales. zonline Experts are also available for dedicated store setup and management support.
